6 New Restaurants Coming to Northern Virginia this Summer!

Wondering what’s new and what’s coming to your town?! We’re here to keep you updated on all things development and real estate in the DMV!

Northern Virginia offers so much to its residents, not least of which is an extensive list of great restaurants and eateries! Here are six new places that are coming soon or have recently opened!

The Study, Old Town Alexandria VA

The Morrison House Hotel in Old Town Alexandria just reopened its craft cocktail lounge, The Study, with a new concept. The Study closed down for the past two years during the COVID-19 pandemic but reopened on April 6th with a new chef and menu. The reimagined space features innovative literature-inspired cocktails with names like “Eve’s Mistake” and “Giving Tree”. Executive Chef Tomas Chavarria’s new menu consists of modern American dishes with regionally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

2. Knossos Restaurant, Herndon VA

Knossos Restaurant is coming soon to Elden Street in Herndon! The Greek and American cuisine restaurant will be serving subs, burgers, gyros, shawarma, falafel, platters, salad and other items. There is no set opening date yet, but they are hoping it will be within the next two months. Once the renovation is completed, the business will open at 150 Elden Street, Suite 180, the former home of Spice Town.

3. Nothing Bundt Cake, Herndon VA

Another one coming to Elden Street! A fan-favorite, Nothing Bundt Cake, is opening a new Northern Virginia location in Herndon (332 Elden Street). If you haven’t had one of their bundt cakes yet, run to the nearest location and get one ASAP!

Their Bundt Cakes are handcrafted and come in a variety of great flavors and sizes. The bakeries also offer a big selection of party supplies, party décor and gifts, making Nothing Bundt Cakes the perfect one-stop celebration shop. Noting Bundt Cakes is a welcome addition to northern Virginia.

4. BKD Bagels, Purcellville VA

A new bagel shop is making its way to Purcellville! BKD Bagels just opened its first brick-and-mortar location in Leesburg in 2021, and will be bringing its second location to the Purcellville Gateway shopping center. BKD is taking over the 1,800-square-foot freestanding building that was left vacant when Mediter-rustic Cuisine closed in August. You can expect a menu made up of handcrafted bagels, bagel breakfast and lunch sandwiches, and a build-your-own-bagel option as well.

bkd bagels are SO good! The staff is super friendly and ready to help with your decision (and there’s a lot to choose from), their service is fast and the atmosphere is awesome.

5. Social Burger, Pentagon City, VA

The second northern Virginia location of Social Burger is coming to Metropolitan Park in Pentagon City (Arlington)! Social Burger is local and family-owned, and currently has one location on Maple Ave in Vienna, VA. The new location will be larger than the original, with a planned 38 seats, and some outdoor seating.

What makes Social Burger so special? It’s their commitment to everything local. This is from their website:

We are proud to support many local schools, PTAs,  school and community sports teams, churches and civic organizations.

We hire local. All of our current Social Burger employees live less that 5 miles from the restaurant.

We are committed tosupporting the local food chain. Our all-natural dry aged beef is from Seven Hills Farms (Charlottesville, VA), our bread is baked fresh daily by Lyon Bakery (Washington DC) and we source seasonal produce from DePaul’s Urban Farm (right down the road on Rt. 123).

Our family wanted to create the neighborhood burger restaurant, and we did just that.

Everyone is welcome.

This sounds good to us.

6. Taco Bell Cantina, Courthouse (second location in Northern Virginia)

For any other Taco Bell fans out there.. Taco Bell is returning to Arlington’s Courthouse  neighborhood after being gone for 10 years. But it’s back with a twist.. And by a twist, I mean booze! Taco Bell Cantina will occupy a 2,166-square-foot space at 2039 Wilson Blvd. and have 48 seats in the dining room.

This tasty list should give you an incentive to get out and about this summer and explore all of the great food and beautiful neighborhoods that Northern Virginia has to offer!
